Skin problems are very common amongst people throughout the world. Eczema is one of these skin problems which affects many people. The severity of the problem may vary from person to person depending on the type of eczema the person is suffering from.


Eczema or dermatitis can affect any person irrespective of their age, gender or living conditions. Even babies can suffer from eczema which is a painful condition as the continuous itching sensation makes the baby restless and irritated.



The majority of the people all over the world who suffer from eczema have it in the mild form. Eczema has been taken from Greek which means a kind of boil. The part of the skin that is affected by eczema develops an ugly appearance but this disease is not contagious.


Like every other kind of disease eczema also has its signs and symptoms like in the mild case of eczema the skin becomes red, itchy and dry. In the moderate and severe cases the skin develops cracks due to extreme dryness and severe itching conditions which leads to raw skin and later on develops a scaly and crusty appearance.


Causes and Types of Eczema
There are many types of eczema and also many causes of eczema. These causes mostly depend on the type of eczema that has been contracted by a person. The causes of eczema also depend on the condition that whether it is an allergic type of eczema or a non-allergy type of eczema.


The most common type of eczema that is found amongst people is the atopic eczema which is caused by allergens which affects people who are very sensitive but does not have any effect on normal people who are not highly sensitive.


Eczema can also develop due to hereditary reasons where one of the parents might have suffered from this problem. Even if people are not allergic they may suffer from eczema due to many types of irritants that are not only present in the environment but can also come in contact with the skin through man-made articles which are used daily for household work or as daily wear.
