Depression has various kinds and one of those is the manic depression which is characterized by varying mood swings that may result to super “high” (manic) to excessively “low” (depressed) feeling.

Sometimes, this problem is referred to as bipolar disorder in which the brain creates strange changes in the person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. The problem may only be seen on later years but truth is, it can start at any age even young children can be affected.

Anyone can be a victim but studies shows that it had genetic link therefore if your family member is suffering from one then you can most likely expect yourself to have the same condition after some time. Seek the doctor right ahead because manic depression would not only cause you stress but including the people around you who take the toil of hardly understanding your behavior.

If you are suffering from manic depression, it is important that you are aware of your personal triggers since this is imperative for the proper treatment of the disease. The condition has recurrent pattern therefore it entails to have nonstop treatment. Take some time to relax yourself by having sufficient amount of sleep and practice regular sleep times.

Doctors may also prescribe medications for manic depression known as “mood stabilizers”. Example of these drugs is lithium and valproate. Sometimes, antidepressants are administered to maintain the balance of highs and lows emotions. There is still hope for people suffering from this condition if only they will realize that proper treatment and early diagnosis is the key.

Antidepressants medication is helpful in curing moderate to severe depression; however one should remember that the drug may react differently from one person to another.

Side effects may occur too, seeking doctor’s advice is helpful to prevent complications.

There are actually different kinds of depression medications which work by increasing numbers of brain chemicals better known as the neurotransmitters. If these chemicals increase in number, it will help improve emotions.

Among the most popular depression medication is known as the tricyclic antidepressant which is one of the first antidepressants employed for the treatment of depression that works by affecting the norepinephrine, neurotransmitters, and serotonin located within the brain.

However, it is highly advised not to take this drug without prescription seeing the fact that it has more side effects among other kinds. Moreover, there is also another depression medication known as the monoamine oxidase inhibitors which work best for those patients who do not respond to other treatments. Nevertheless when taking this medication, the patients are advised to adhere to strict dietary restrictions because it reacts abnormally to various foods such as cheese, wine, and many more.

Newer kinds of depression medication includes selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors that functions by means of changing the quantity of a serotonin chemical in the brain. Another kind is the serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which augments the level of serotonin and norepinephrine. The abovementioned drugs are all effective, it is just up to your doctor to prescribe the one that will work best for your condition.

Depression is a medical condition. It is not like people wanted to get depressed or when they are depressed they are somewhat ‘crazy’.

There are various misconceptions about the illness which make it even more difficult to cure since other may feel unconvinced in seeking medical treatment for fear of what others may tell them. If only they will learn to realize that there are various depression medicines that can be used to cure the problem.

Depression medicine is a big help to people who are suffering from depression which works through the process of slowing the removal of some chemicals known as neurotransmitters in the brain. However, these drugs may work slowly sometimes it can take up to 4 to 6 months before the result is seen. Sometimes the doctor may recommend taking the medication for a longer time depending upon the way the patient reacts to the treatment.

Depression medicine is classified according to the chemicals in the brain that they will influence, among the classifications include: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclics, serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI, norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors (NDRIs), combined reuptake inhibitors and receptor blockers, and monamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

Taking depression medicine should be first consulted to a doctor given the fact that they can have an effect on many other medicines. Better to talk to your doctor about your other medicines; both over-the-counter medicines and herbal health products so she can decide if you need to stop the medication or not.

Anti depressant includes the use of medications and psychotherapy. But with more and more people testifying the effectiveness of herbal treatments, they are now becoming progressively more popular than other kinds of drugs.

It is being patronized by most people since it is all natural therefore tendering only few side effects. However, although the treatment is all natural, doctor’s intervention is still highly advised. The reason is because herbal supplements could diminish the efficiency of some of the medications that you may already be taking and sometimes, it can also strengthen the potency of the drug.

There are herbs that can effectively be utilized as anti depression. If you just get the right kind, it can effectively cure the problem without asking you to shell out much cash. For best result, opt for those high quality supplements that are of pharmaceutical grade and the metabolic paths since every medicine was studied by scientist to get the right molecular level.

One of the best anti depression herbal supplement is milk thistle scientifically known as Silybum Marianum. There is also the chamomile which helps relieve anxiousness as it also relaxes the nervous system. These are great to use most especially if your depression is not yet that grave but as stated above, consult first a doctor. You don’t want to worsen the problem because of over dosage or wrong treatment. Depression is easy to cure if the patient will only strive to dedicate himself to the whole process and system.

Everybody may feel emotionally down at a certain point of their life, this condition result from all of disappointments brought by life.

However, if the feeling of loneliness is above normal and if it won’t get rid of you after a period of two weeks then the problem is not something to take lightly, in fact you may be suffering from serious cases of depression. You should see a doctor immediately which on return may advice you of undergoing depression counseling.

There are actually various methods that one can employ in treating depression, among those are anti-depressants medicine, depression counseling, eating proper foods, and regular exercise. The doctor may sure prescribe first the use of anti-depressants but it is not enough if you want to speed up your recovery so you will then be requested to subject yourself to depression counseling.

Most patients who find it difficult to overcome symptoms of many types of depression are typically advised to attend depression counseling. There are even some professionals that suggest that counseling is more effective than any anti depressant because it involves the process of talking to the patient therefore you will be able to know the main cause of the problem.

The patient also will be assessed by a certified counselor which is trained to ask the right questions without the feeling of being intrigued. The counselor will also give answers to your questions and solutions to empower you therefore giving you hope to the problem and help you cope up with your depression.

If you are suffering from depression, proper treatment is needed right ahead which simply connotes seeking the help of a professional.

Depression counselor is a person specially trained to help a person suffering from depression identifies the main cause of the trouble. But not all counselors can help you out because different therapists work well for different people. Keep in mind that depression may result from various aspects so it needs various methods to combat the problem and because of this, it is highly impossible for one person to be an expert in all areas. This simply means that each counselor may tender various expertises.

Submitting yourself to a depression counselor entails giving your complete trust to the person. If you don’t trust your therapist, then surely even though he is known to give the best treatment in the world, it will not work for you.

Depression is a very common ailment that is suffered by most of the people all over the world. Though it is a very serious problem which affects the brain most of people

tend to take it lightly as they feel that it is a temporary passing phase caused due to frustration or some other set back in life. Most people fail to understand that depression is caused due to many types of chemical or biological changes in the body which should be treated immediately or it may give rise to other health problems and increase the anxiety level of the patient.

So if a person is suffering from anxiety should always take anti anxiety drugs. But one should always remember that taking any kind of drug without proper medical advice can cause health problems as most of the anti anxiety drugs have adverse side effects if they are taken in excess. The doctor will always prescribe the anti anxiety drugs in safe dosage after collecting all the test reports of the patient’s health condition. Neurontin is also one of the anti anxiety drugs which is prescribed by doctors for people who suffer from anxiety caused due to depression.

The Neurontin Drug
Neurontin is an anti convulsion drug which is used by the doctors for treating seizures and the pain that is caused in the nerves when a person suffers from herpes or other disease like shingles. This drug was approved by the Federal Drug Association but later on it was discovered that if Neurontin is used for treating anxiety which is caused due to bipolar depression or for treating the restless syndrome in the legs then the anxiety level of the patient increased as it has the side effect of causing Neurontin anxiety.

The latest finding about the drug shows that it causes neuropentin depression in children if they are prescribed this drug for treating anxiety. This drug which is used as anti epileptic drug has a higher chance of causing Neurontin depression as compared to other anti anxiety drugs. If Neurontin is used for treating children who are under three years then the most common side effect is Neurontin depression and anxiety.

The exact number of women who suffer from postpartum depression is not known but it is commonly believed that most of the women undergo this phase of depression either during pregnancy or after the delivery of the baby. Most of the time the mother to be or the new mother is not given any attention even when they show the signs of depression.

It is felt that the changes in behavior take place due to the hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy or after the delivery of the baby. So it always remains undiagnosed and most of the time untreated. Postpartum depression occurs due to hormonal changes in the woman’s body. So this depression can also affect the teenage girls when they start their first their first menstrual cycle or the aging woman who is advancing towards the menopausal phase. But the maximum hormonal changes take place during pregnancy or after delivery so it is related with pregnancy.

Symptoms of Postpartum Depression
The most common symptoms of postpartum depression are irritability, mood shifts which is also called baby blues, always having a sad feeling, crying without any reason and other emotional setbacks along with a sleeping problem that is not getting sufficient sleep. These symptoms may last for a short period of time till the body gets used to the drastic hormonal changes that occur after childbirth. But if the symptoms continue for more than two to three weeks then the patient needs medical treatment.

Causes of Postpartum Depression
The main cause of postpartum depression is the hormonal changes that take place in the body but a woman who has suffered from pre menstrual problem is more likely to suffer from postpartum depression. Other factors that can cause postpartum depression are external factors like some kind of sad incident which has occurred during pregnancy or it may be inherited. It is very difficult to find out the real cause of postpartum depression.

Many people in this world suffer from a thyroid problem which is also known as hypothyroidism. It is caused due to the malfunctioning of the thyroid gland

which means that the metabolism of the body is affected as the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones called thyroxin. The medicine that is commonly prescribed by doctors to treat hypothyroidism is Synthroid. The most common symptoms of low thyroid hormones is fatigue, depression, increased heart beats, forgetfulness, sensitivity to cold and other problems.

The low level of the thyroid hormone is also responsible for developing many types of psychological problems in the patient suffering from hypothyroidism as the thyroid hormone T3 is the main hormone which ensures proper functioning of the brain. The patient suffers from many types of behavioral and emotional symptoms like sudden change of moods, irritation, anxiety and lack of concentration which is mostly considered as causes of depression and the treatment is done for depression and not for hypothyroidism.

Though Synthroid is used for treating the thyroid problem this synthetic substitution does not have the potentiality to increase the level of the free T3 thyroid hormone. Synthroid is used for increasing the level of T4 thyroid hormone which is not sufficient for the proper functioning of the immune system, the brain and even the metabolism of the body. This leads to the continuation of the state of depression and anxiety in the patient even after being treated with Synthroid for the thyroid problem.

The Synthroid depression can be removed if the patient is given a combination of a drug with Synthroid so that a balance of both T3 and T4 can be maintained in the body. So if anybody who has hypothyroidism and is suffering from depression in spite of taking Synthroid should get a test done for the level of T3 thyroid hormone in the body and if the test shows a level below the middle range then the patient should immediately consult the doctor and take another medicine with Synthroid which will increase the T3 level. This will help the patient to overcome the problem of Synthroid depression.

It is often considered that the most difficult period in the life of a person is the teenage years when you have to undergo many changes which are both physical and mental.

The biological changes that take place in the body also affect the hormonal secretion in the body which affects the emotional feelings as the child is unable to understand the sudden changes that occur in the body which also affect his thinking and outlook towards life. Moreover the external stress and strain of the modern day life affects his overall personality. This also develops the sudden changes in the mood.

The other factors that affect teens mostly are living conditions that are not very desirable and situations which are problematic but they do not find any solutions for the problems. This leads to other problems like loss of self esteem which affects their personality and self confidence. They also feel stressed and develop insomnia which causes irritation and tiredness. They lose interest in life and tend to become problematic which leads to lack of concentration and forgetfulness. They also tend to suddenly gain or lose weight.

Other Severe Symptoms
If the teens who are suffering from the initial stages of depression are not provided proper treatment at that stage they may tend to develop severe symptoms of depression like constant irritation, sadness, self pity, indecisiveness and withdrawing into total silence. These symptoms make them vulnerable and they may try to find consolation by becoming drug addicts or alcoholics. They may also develop suicidal attitude or derive pleasure by hurting themselves. They develop this attitude as they feel that it is the best way to be free from the problematic world.

Treatment for Teen Depression
Treatment is available for teen depression but it is better that the preventive measures should be taken to save the child from the trauma of depression. The medical treatment for teen depression is the same as adult depression that is the use of anti depressant medicines and psychological therapy. But most of the time the symptoms of teen depression go unnoticed which is very risky as it affects their life in adulthood.
